This Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course equips individuals with essential skills to effectively manage first aid incidents. It covers key areas such as the roles and responsibilities of a first aider, scene safety, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The course runs over a single day and includes both theoretical and practical elements.
By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to effectively respond to accidents, both in the workplace and at home.
The Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) qualification aligns with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines, specifically under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. It also meets the standards set by the Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines 2021.
Course Content
- The roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an incident safely
- First aid to an unresponsive casualty
- Identify when and demonstrate how to administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Identify when and how to use the recovery position
- Spinal injury awareness
- First aid to a casualty who is choking
- Treatment for a casualty with external bleeding (including life-threatening bleeds)
- First aid for a casualty in shock
- Treatment for other minor injuries (including burns and scalds)
